Onterrible 04:15
Build it up or tear it down That doesn’t make it common ground We’re just trying to level out The landscape but for who? If you’re so proud of everything that you’ve been up to Don’t say that it’s about the People or the places that you mess with each night? Why you keep coming at us if you’re so satisfied? I think that we’ve got it made and don’t care if you understand All the things we’ve sacrificed to master how we thrive on what we’ve Always had within our hearts but never quite inside our hands Cuz I’ve been called a lot of things but honest to god They’re not all that bad Aw, you poor sap What’s so Onterrible about that? So let it go or reel it in You’ll never catch that one again There’ll always be a bigger one And who couldn’t use more rest? It’s never been a contest If it was we all know who’d win All the people and the places messed with each night Why you keep coming at us if you’re so damn content and so satisfied With everything that you think we lack Cuz I don’t think it’s all that bad Aw, you poor sap What’s so Onterrible about that? It’s not the best But we’ve got lots of things you can’t find in the west Not so Onterrible Not so bad

Rush 02:34
These days everything feels like too much Although we’ve never got enough We’re bound to crash so buckle up This matters more than a parking spot I can hardly stand the thought of staying put or moving on And yet I idol where I stopped As if the race we’re in has not begun The road is long and rough And consumes all of us A slow and steady push Is the only way to beat the rush So if you need a place to rest your weary eyes Don’t be too proud to turn the wheel and pull over to the side Or better yet To ask for help from someone in whom you confide We all see trouble in the mirror and have traffic backed up inside our minds The road is long and rough Abused by all of us A slow and steady push Is the only way to beat the The road is long and rough Abused by all of us A slow and steady push Is the only way to beat The endless and relentless rush

Years 04:33
So strong for so long trying to get it right I don’t see what is so wrong or impolite About admitting defeat when you’ve been beaten Not to say that I had a better reason Than anyone else who walks in these shoes Or rides their bike Or chooses to stay in bed all day and count on both hands How often life don’t go as planned I won’t forget Please forgive me, my motherland And tell our kid Why I did everything that I did Tell her what I was thinking about back When we agreed to disagree Some things are better off deceased For fuck sakes Those feelings lingered on for days and days and days And if that’s that Allow me to show you what is what Alright To tell my son Why I did everything that I have done Show him what ran through my head When we agreed to disagree Some things are better off deceased For fuck sakes Those feelings lingered on for days And days and days and months and weeks and seasons and years And years And years

Call Call it whatever you choose Call from on top of your roof Call until your cheeks turn blue It's not up to you Drag Drag my likeness through the streets Drag nose bleeds to front row seats Drag the company you keep It's not up to me Whenever I arrive I'll let someone else decide If my soul's seen it's share of fire It's been that kind of a night Let Let it underneath your skin Let it haunt you from within Let it rid you of your sin It's not up to anyone but them No It's not up to any of us Waiting for something from somewhere beyond Whenever I arrive I'll let someone else decide If my soul's seen it's share of fire It's been that kind of a night A dizzying ride A hell of a life

Only Human 03:29
I know it feels like you never get anything done I know it feels like you’re never gonna touch that sun But don’t forget that you’ve gotta walk before you run And if you trip it could end so try to have some fun Because there’s never been a worse critic it’s true No one needs convincing accept you There’s only so much time in a day And only so much you can say And I know just how hard it was getting to this show I know you’ve got more to do than anyone I know But if you spread it too thin it will not taste at all Savor that flavor and don’t bite off more than you can chew unless you are ready to choke Because there’s never been a worse critic it’s true No one needs convincing accept you There’s only so much time in a day And only so much you can say There’s only so much time in a day And only so much we can say There’s only so much we can bend before we break And only so much we can mend Cuz we’re only human

Search Party 03:08
Timbuktu Mountains of Peru Middle of the desert and every arctic igloo I combed the forests, fields and the ocean blue Greasy spoons Public swimming pools Hotels, homes and hospitals, abandoned middle schools I went to church and scanned every pew I still can’t find a good excuse My bedroom My head and heart too The cushions on my couch and in my jeep and in my shoes I followed every sign and every clue to everywhere except the dark side of the moon I still don’t have a good excuse For everything that I put you through

Pay Off 03:33
Going day in and day out You know what it’s all about So much I’d rather do instead Hard to do it well when I am exhausted Yet I keep showing up at that job Clocking in too early and clocking out whenever I get cut Wishing I could make money doing something I really love and holding on To hope that one day this will all payoff Now I’ve got a stack of bills so high If it tips I’ll drown and die And I’ve got mouths I’ve gotta feed Gotta make sure everyone eats Though I’m not convinced we would end up on the street And yet I keep showing up at that job Clocking in too early and clocking out whenever I get cut Wishing I could make money doing something I really love and holding on To hope that one day this will all payoff Yeah, I keep showing up at that job Clocking in too early and clocking out whenever I get cut Wishing I could make money doing something I really love and holding on Yes, I'm holding on Just holding on I'm holding on

Heatwave 04:13
I always knew I wanted to line up and ride I knew I’d rather risk it all out in the sunlight Than waste one day Trying to prevent the inevitable end Hiding in a patch of shade Waiting for that sun to set And as the tide begins to rise, I realize There has never been such thing as the right place or the right time To clear my head or head back into the universe As far from perfect as it is, I’m sure it could be much worse Melting like a snowman who got no say in what he was made out of Trying to enjoy it though it’s hard to have fun when it is so hot It’s hot Now everywhere I find myself, someone was once lost If it looks too good to be true it is more than likely just another mirage That's ok, if we stay balanced and we behave Guaranteed we will escape, on this vision bending, sweat bead vending, smokin’ heatwave Melting like the snowmen who got no say in what they were made out of Trying to enjoy it though it’s hard to have fun when the pressure’s on It’s hot Game on

Uncertain 04:35
You’ve been given You’ve been given so many chances Chances to take it back to the top Or to wherever you want But you’re a victim of Everything that you love It’s time to rinse that off Dry out and rise above And do it without compromising just to keep them on your good side My friend you should never apologize for something that you are not sorry for We expect much more You are too uncertain about everything you know It’s in there somewhere you just have to find a way to break the spell So set yourself free Whatever you think freedom might mean Set yourself a new standard to meet Chill out, put up your feet And do it without compromising just to keep them on your good side My friend you should never apologize for something that you are not sorry for We expect much more You are too uncertain about everything you know It’s in there somewhere you just have to find a way to break the trends and habits That they built around you while you slept And dreamt of the men you never actually met When you were young Lord knows you were so impressionable back then Time could tell you just have to find a way to break the spell You are too uncertain about everything you know It’s in there somewhere you just haven’t found a way to break the spell Yet

Memories 05:54
In your hometown everything gets around There’s so much you cannot control Birthday gifts, even Everest will shift So don’t get too comfortable And when you do, consider yourself warned I’ve seen rainbows form and fade to gray When the sun finally came to play I’ve heard what they What they say about all good things Whoever they is I don’t give a shit Cuz I know that Nothing is ever gonna be the same And that’s the way it’s always going to be Ya, every single thing will change Except our memories but I already forget So, grab a glass and fill it as high as you must There ain’t no rug too small to cover up the dust We’ve created since big guns left us Here to rust Under the bus What’s the fuss? We’re just symptoms Not the cause And we heard what What they say about all good things Whoever they is We don’t give a shit Cuz we know that nothing No, nothing is ever going to be the same And that’s the way it’s always going to be Ya, every single little thing will change Except our memories but I already forget Why I came down here in the first place Oh no, all alone Maybe I was looking for some hope? Oh no, all alone But if it’s always in the last place you look All alone Maybe I’m not that far off after all Yeah, everything will change Then it will again And again and again Your family and your friends Heroes and villains You better start getting used to it

about

On August 20th, 2022, I released a big-band rock album called Staycation that I had been working on for roughly 3 years. I couldn't be more proud of how it turned out BUT by the time it was completed, I felt weirdly disconnected from the energy that was captured - 3 years is a long time!

In an attempt to remedy those feelings, I booked myself a little getaway, grabbed my guitar, my recording gear and a few cans of beans, and headed into the forest! Initially I thought it would be the start of my next album but instead I found myself strumming these mellow versions of the songs that I had just released and they felt new to me again! I captured one and then another and before long I was only a few songs away from having the entire album! I took the ideas home with me and as quickly and quietly as I could, started bringing them to life!

I used whatever I had and hit record whenever I had the chance to! Construction outside? I'm doing vocals today. Loud hum in the mic? Too bad I feel like rippin' some classical. Dogs running around upstairs? Perfect. I love dogs. No shaker? Throw some rice in an empty Advil bottle. You get the point.

The end product is this... Staycoustic! The exact same 11 songs from Staycation, completely reimagined for sitting around a campfire! 🏕️

Enjoy!
